phi·lan·thro·py/fəˈlanTHrəpē/

noun: philanthropy

the desire to promote the welfare of others, expressed especially by the generous donation of money to good causes.

The Alpha Chi Omega Foundation was established in 1978 to provide financial support to our Fraternity, our sisters, our collegiate chapters and local charities through a variety of programs including scholarships, leadership development and educational programs for its members, as well as support for the arts. Domestic Violence Awareness has been the national altruism of Alpha Chi Omega since 1992.

On a local level, Gamma Theta Gamma plans several opportunities during the year for members to contribute selflessly to the welfare of others. Typically, one of our yearly events is a fun activity dedicated to raising funds for the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation (such as bingo or a shoebox auction). Also, each year at our December meeting, sisters donate brand-new small appliances for the resident holiday store at one of the local domestic violence shelters. We also collect clothing, toiletries, books, toys, art supplies and non-perishable food items throughout the year, and lately have been doing a philanthropy activity tied to Hera Day.

Lastly, Gamma Theta Gamma also supports the Los Angeles Alumnae Panhellenic Association’s efforts to raise funds for scholarships for collegiate sorority members at local Los Angeles universities.

Thank you for your support!
